No more point in being thrifty

We only have till then to stop the burn

Will take us past the point of no return
So, is everyone too dizzy
With the science, or too busy
Making money from the extra mouths to feed?
Will we ever give a thought to
If we can or if we ought to
Put the brakes on how we live and how we breed?

I hear laughter and derision
At the notion that we’re heading for a crunch
With our populations growing
And the profits from them flowing
They say everyone can share in this free lunch!
But in no-one’s legislature
Has a price been paid to Nature
And she needs that money now to square the score
For the air and for the water
We owe Nature our last quarter
And we’ve gotta pay her now or lose the war
